Seisiún na h-Eireann

Friday 26th - Sunday 28th September 2008

The festival commences Friday September 28th sessions kicking off in the Village pubs. The 1st round heats go on until 22.00hrs and then it's open session time with bar exemptions and rocking trad music 'till late.
1st round heats continue again Saturday afternoon. On Saturday an Exhibition of Art by local contributors will open in the Village Hall - Free Admission. In the pubs the semi-final qualifiers will be announced and also the winners of the Schools Art Competition will be announced in the hall.

Semi Finals commence Saturday with open sessions and bar exemptions till late again. Finalists will be announced in the pubs. The Ceilí event will take place in St. Fiannians hall with the Ceilí band from Tulla in Co. Clare infamous for it mixture of Ceilí, Jazz and Old Time Waltz music. This night will include plenty of Ceili Dancing, waltzing, brush dancing and all combined with a set dancing competition. The set dancing competition will be mixed through the
evenings dancing and the big prize of the "Aisling Perpetual Cup" is up for grabs, prizes available for first, second and third place. Come along and enter a set or join friends of old and create a new set or just come and enjoy the dancing and entertainment. Plenty of prizes and spot prizes on the night.

Session Finals commence at 14.00hrs Sunday. At 17.00hrs in Quin Hall, the 4 finalists play each for 10mins before announcing the winners and runners up.

The Festival prize fund includes €5,000 for the winner and prizes for Best Overseas Entry and other runner-up prizes. The winning publican receives a plaque declaring its status as Winner of Seisiún Na h-Eireann.
