Carlow Regatta

Saturday 4th - Sunday 5th June 2011

Rowing in Carlow has been popular since 1859. The highlight of this year is the annual regatta which attracts entries from both Ireland and overseas.

Carlow Regatta attracts entries from all four provinces and we also frequently have visiting clubs from the UK.

Racing begins at 9am and continues with races every 5 minutes up to 6pm each day. We are a two lane course which is excellent from a spectator point of view and also from a coaching prospective as they can follow the races on a bicycle.

We cater for male and female from Junior 12 up to Masters Events. We enjoy great media coverage from local and national press and also local radio. We also receive a good report from an independent regatta observer which is submitted to Rowing Ireland after the event.

Our regatta is run on a voluntary basis all our regatta workers are present or past members, parents and friends of the club. Our event is very well supported by local people who come down to spectate, and also well supported by local businesses
