2009 Award Winners SEAFOOD BAR OF THE YEAR 2009

The Lobster Pot

BIM Seafood CircleNear Carnsore Point and just a few miles from Rosslare ferry port, Anne and Ciaran Hearne’s handsome country pub, in elegant dark green with lots of well-maintained plants, is a welcome sight indeed – and, with picnic tables outside at the front bar, and several bar areas furnished in simple, practical style, with sturdy furniture designed for comfortable eating, there is no doubt where the priorities of this fine pub lie.

Daily deliveries ensure fresh fish supplies and, the catch dictates daily specials. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the focus is firmly on putting local seafood to the best possible use, providing efficient service - and good value.

Simple but carefully prepared meals are served all day in the bar, typically including an outstanding seafood chowder (salmon, crab, prawns, cod, cockles & mussels in a rich fish base), a wild Irish smoked salmon platter and delicious fresh crab salad, whilst an extensive evening menu lists 21 fish in eight different languages.

An admirable place all round, this is just the kind of pub that visitors dream of finding.
