EPICUREAN FOOD HALL

On the corner of Liffey Street and Middle Abbey Street, The Epicurean Food Hall is a buzzy place bringing together a collection of small units with a common seating area where you will find a wide range of gourmet foods, cooked and uncooked - and the wines to go with them.

The hall is open during the day every day (opens later on Sunday, remains open for late shoppers on Thursday evening); it's an enjoyable place to browse - there are lots of lovely little shops and cafés in the hall, including a good choice of ethnic ones, and they quite often change so these long-established tenants are just a taster: La Corte (01 873 4200) is one of two north river outposts of Stefano Crescenzi and David Izzo's smart Italian café (see entry). Itsabagel (Tel 01 874 0486): Domini and Peaches Kemps' classy bagel bar offeres authentic New York bagels, savoury breads with fillings, juices, muffins and cookies and is very popular with discerning lunchtime browsers (also at The Pavilion, Dun Laoghaire).
