Buy & Eat

Café / Food Market / Online Shop

Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.

Foodie Folk

Mark Stone's forward-looking shop aims to offer quality with a strong emphasis on local produce at supermarket prices - it's mainly an online operation, for delivery or collection, but the shop and cafe is open six days since the operation moved to premises in Gilnahirk.

The range is intended to be affordable and includes some more ordinary items (ie not necessarily all free range or organic) but also superior products, eg Dexter beef.

For vegetables they work with William Donnan's Flavour First, a successful veg box scheme based at Sea View Farm in Donaghadee, farmhouse cheeses are sourced from throughout Ireland the baking range includes Yellow Door breads.

Meats are local and beef is dry-aged, there's a good choice of poultry including Silverhill duck and the excellent Lissara Farm free range chicken, a very good fresh fish range (delivered within 24 hours of catch)  Mainly sourced within Ireland - exceptions include Shetlands salmon.
