The Gallic Kitchen

Sarah Webb started her acclaimed business The Gallic Kitchen in Dublin around twenty years ago, producing and selling superb handmade pies, tarts, quiches, relishes, chutneys, jams and marmalade among many other items.

Having recently sold the Dublin business to former manager, Kevin Doyle (who has renamed it Lovin Catering), Sarah moved to Durrow, Co Laois, where she set up a commercial kitchen, for outside catering and to supply this delightful little shop in Abbeyleix.

Here, alongside her own delicious baked goods and salads, she also offers other premium delicatessen foods, many of them local and some (such as Dittys oatcakes) from other Good Food Ireland members. There’s hot and cold food to go, and also a couple of tables (one outside) where you can enjoy this wonderful food in an atmosphere of creativity.

Don’t leave without having a cup of freshly brewed coffee with one of Sarah’s gorgeous desserts. Everything is seriously tempting, but perhaps the meringue roulades are the most utterly irresistible...

Also at farmers’ markets (Saturday: Temple Bar, Dublin, and Naas, Co Kildare; Sunday: Farmleigh, Dublin - please check www.farmleigh.ie for dates) and at festivals; catering offered for both large and small events.

Seats about 10. Open 7 days: Mon-Sat 10-6, Sun 11-6
