The Harbourmaster Bar and Restaurant

In a waterside setting at Dublin's thriving financial services centre, this old Dock Offices building has genuine character and makes a fine Dublin restaurants and bar.

The bar itself is very busy at times, but there is also an impressive contemporary upstairs restaurant, The Greenhouse, in a modern extension which has been designed in sympathy with the original building.

Most tables have an interesting (and increasingly attractive) view of the development outside but, as there are now several dining areas, it is wise to ensure you get to the right one on arrival.

For fine weather, there's also a decked outdoor area overlooking the inner harbour and fountain, with extra seating.

The Harbourmaster has that indefinable buzz that comes from being in the financial centre of a capital city and, while not necessarily a destination dining experience, the food is appropriately international and contemporary in style.

The Greenhouse Restaurant: L, Mon-Fri. Restaurant closed evenings and weekends (except for functions). Bar open Mon-Wed, noon-closing daily (Sun 12.30-11) Brasserie food all day, daily. Closed 25 Dec & Good Fri. Amex, Diners, MasterCard, Visa.
