HOTEL EUROPE IS REOPENING FOLLOWING A MAJOR REFURB ON THE 17TH MARCH 2008. The new Spa "ESPA at the Europe", pool & leisure facilities will not open until mid June.

Although now around thirty five years old, this impressive hotel was exceptionally well built and has been so well maintained through the years that it still outshines many a new top level hotel.

Public areas are very large and impressive, and make full use of the hotel's wonderful location, and bedrooms follow a similar pattern, with lots of space, quality furnishings, beautiful views and balconies all along the lake side of the hotel.

Leisure facilities include a 25-metre swimming pool and the hotel adjoins the three Killarney golf courses - Killeen, Mahony's Point and Lackabane - and the two nine hole courses, Dunloe and Ross, are nearby. The hotel's continental connections show clearly in the style throughout but especially, perhaps, when it comes to food - breakfast, for example, is an impressive hot and cold buffet.

Housekeeping is exemplary and, perhaps unexpectedly, this is a very family-friendly hotel.

*At the time of going to press the hotel is closed for a €40m renovation of the ground floor and conference centre, and the introduction of a 50,000sq ft spa with 21 treatment rooms. The hotel is due to re-open in March 2008.
