Indie Spice Naas

The original home of a growing chain of highly-regarded Indian restaurants (the others are in Belfast, Indie Spice SwordsIndie Spice Sandymount Dublin), Indie Spice in Naas features the warm and stylish interior that has become their trademark - and promises something a little special.

The style is clean-lined, with striking contemporary décor in vivid pinks and oranges – and, although quite large, divisions and good lighting give a sense of intimacy. Service is prompt and courteous, with poppadoms and dips brought to your table right away.

With a long and interesting menu, offering a wide variety of dishes in familiar styles (Tandoor, Biriyani etc), sharing platters or the chef's specialities are recommended, especially for first time visitors not familiar with the menu.

Dishes enjoyed on a recent visit by the Guide included Jhinga Puri (spiced king prawns, cooked with fresh spring onions and tomato and served on fried bread ‘puri’), and a tasty rendition of that old favourite Sheek Kebab (a well-spiced tandoori dish of minced lamb with fresh garlic, ginger, mint, coriander and green chillies, available as a starter or main course), served with excellent Peshwaree Naan and Pilau Rice.

The main menu offers good value but there are also various Specials to tempt you in more often – a 2-course Lunch Special offers a set meal for only €8.95pp, for example, a Sunday Special gives three courses for €18.95pp, a 2-course Early Bird is €14.95pp – and best of all, perhaps, is the Indie Express which offers a meal for 2 for only €25.95  - for this you get pyazu, chicken tikka, murgh makhan wala, lamb bhuna, Bombay aloo, pilau rice, naan, and 2 x 330ml bottles of Indian beer.

The drinks menu includes cocktails and Indian beers as well as a good choice of wines.

This is a pleasing restaurant and especially atmospheric in the evening, although also very popular locally for lunch.

Seats 85; Open all day 12-11.15pm (Sun 1-11pm). L 12-2.30pm, D 5.30-11.15pm. Set 2 course L €8.95; set Sun L €18.95; early bird D €14.95; also a la carte. House wine €18.95. SC 10% on groups 6+.
