Ballyseedy Home and Garden in Tralee is one of the country’s largest (and best) garden centres, and the secret of its success is the hands-on family ownership of Bernie Falvey and her son Nathan McDonnell; Nathan now runs this newer venture and here, as well as great selection of plants (including some that can be hard to find) and garden goods, you will find a sister café to the long-established Jacobs on the Mall restaurant in Cork city.

Although very casual, you’ll find the same philosophy of using the best of fresh seasonal food applied here too, with lots of tempting deli and café fare to choose from.

Everything is home made and delicious. Lovely simple, flavoursome things like a well made quiche and leaf salad, and a yummy homemade meringue and cream, or a big, big biscuit to get your teeth into and a perfect pot of tea top wash it all down with. Aside from a trolley full of healthy plants, what could be better on a shopping expedition to this very pleasant place?

Plenty of parking, and green spaces too.
