In a line of pretty shops with ample parking, Mulberrys is one of the newer restaurants in the busy Barna suburb of Galway. Its contemporary duck egg blue and cream shopfront is both inviting and welcoming, with clear signage declaring its Italian and Seafood style.
Friendly staff welcome arriving guests in the spacious contemporary bar/reception area and, in the the restaurant plain dark wood tables are set simply with comfortable seating the tone, making for a relaxed atmosphere.
A wide-ranging à la carte menu offers plenty of popular dishes, with starters like chowder or fish cakes, while main courses offer a choice of pasta dishes such Fettucine Pollo (Chicken, broccoli, red onions, sun dried tomatoes, chilli, pesto cream), fish dishes like Herb crusted fillet of Atlantic Hake plus substantial mains such as grilled James McGeough's Sirloin Steak or roast rack of Irish pork.
Daily specials offer extra fresh fish dishes. Desserts offered tend to be old favourites - apple tart, crème brulée - then good coffee and teas to finish. A modest wine list includes some half bottle.
Mulberrys also offers an all evening value menu where 2 or 3 courses may be selected from the à la carte menu for €19 and €23 respectively.
Overall the quality of ingredients and cooking is good which, along with reasonable prices and the casual elegance of the place, makes Mulberrys a pleasant place to visit.
