The Old Pier

Situated on the edge of the world overlooking the Atlantic and the Blasket Islands, Padraig and Jacqui O'Connor's friendly restaurant is so popular with locals that punctuality is important - a you may well find the restaurant already choc-a-block with people if you arrive late.

Extensive menus are strong on local seafood which may include lobster, black sole, and prawns (langoustine) when available. There's a house chowder, classics such as Dingle Bay prawn cocktail (made with langoustines) and fresh crab salad marie rose; mixed fish dishes such as seafood mornay based on the available catch, succulent bakes such as fresh cod in breadcrumbs, treats like black sole on the bone and also good steaks and local lamb dishes.

Homemade desserts include plenty of temptations along traditional lines - fresh fruit pavlova, perhaps, lemon cheesecake, fruit crumbles and homemade ice cream, for example.

Good cooking, together with generous portions, moderate prices and efficient, good-humoured service have all earned a following for this big-hearted restaurant.
