Waterside
Brian and Brigid Roberts’ restaurant and guesthouse is a favourite spot for the many who love the waterside setting of their attractive old warehouse beside the River Barrow, the quaintness of Graiguenamanagh town - and Brigid’s wholesome cooking.
Wedding blessings are not possible here, but the beautiful Duiske Abbey in Graiguenamanagh is within walking distance, and this makes an interesting and appealing alternative
wedding venues where the numbers are small and an intimate atmosphere is a priority.
A sit down meal would be usual here, but there’s a willingness to fit in with whatever is required, so a buffet could be arranged if preferred; similarly, a wedding cake service is available and the cake could be served as the final course if you wish.
It’s an old building, and the restaurant area is too restricted to allow music; however, if the wedding party take all the rooms and there are no other guests to consider ‘you can stay as loud and late as you want to’, which should satisfy most wedding parties.
Brid is a good cook, who uses local ingredients (possibly even including eel from the local eel fishery, which dates back to the Cistercian monks who built the town, and has recently been revived), and this is an hospitable place for a celebration.
The towpaths along the river offer the perfect solution for the long walks required the morning after too - this is an exceptionally beautiful part of the country, and guests travelling from afar should certainly allow time for a little exploration.
