Castlecomer Golf Club

Set in a 200 year old forest, Castlecomer's course provides a great test of golf combined with breath taking views of the local terrain. With the development of this course completed in 2003, it is clear to everyone at Castlecomer Golf Club that Pat Ruddy has designed a unique Golf Course.
In total thirteen new holes were incorporated into the eighteen hole layout with tees and greens built to USGA standards. The holes have sand based fairways with irrigation built in. The construction of the latter from the outset is rare for parkland layouts in Ireland, but certainly ensures top class, year round playing conditions, no matter what the prevailing climatic conditions.
One by one, as construction took place, each hole surpassed the last in it's stunning beauty and architecture. As more and more golfers are playing this magnificant course, it's full splendour is becoming increasingly apparent day by day
Gowran Park Golf Club

In 2001 Gowran Park, in County Kilkenny, developed this unique 18 hole golf course to compliment its renowned race meetings. Incorporating a mixture of established woodland and lakes, this Jeff Howes designed par 71, 18 hole golf course provides and excellent test for the low handicap golfer whilst also being very enjoyable for the middle to high handicappers.
Located on the picturesque Lord Annaly Estate in the heart of County Kilkenny, Gowran Park is the home to only Grade 1 racecourse in the South East and what is one Ireland’s Top 100 golf courses.
The key feature of Gowran Park golf course would be that five holes of the golf course are located within the centre of the race course. The first three holes start inside the track, and then proceed in an anti-clockwise direction, returning inside again to play the 9th and the 18th under the watchful eye of the clubhouse. Holes 2 and 17 also face the extra challenge of avoiding the two lakes.
The course is a wonderful parkland golf course with tree-lined fairways and superb greens complemented by various water hazards, lakes and streams. The 15th hole is arguably the most picturesque hole on the course, no bunkers, no water, just a corridor of fairway cut between two rows of 100ft plus trees.
The signature hole is the 4th hole. A fantastic hole based on “Azalea” the 13th hole at Augusta. Playing to 100ft high trees in the distance you have to avoid the trees to the right and the creek to the left, expected to play your second shot over the creek which surrounds the green. A real index 2 hole.
This exciting, beautiful, dramatic and challenging golf course leads to an enjoyable golfing experience. No trip to the South East is complete without a trip to this Kilkenny Golf Course.
Kilkenny Golf Club

Kilkenny is a championship golf course and is set on 120 acres of parkland and measures 5,917 metres with a par of 71. The course now boasts 18 sand-based undulating greens and is constructed on free draining soil which means it is playable all year round. Significant improvements have been carried out in recent years and the course now presents a serious challenge to golfers of all level of skill.
Notable features of the course are the four very challenging par threes, the long tree lined par four eleventh, and the opening hole, a par four with a testing undulating green of some 40 metres long. There is also a fine practice putting green, adjacent to the clubhouse and to the first tee.
Kilkenny Golf Club hosted the Carroll's Irish Matchplay Professional Championship in 1973 which was won by Christy O'Connor Jnr.
In 1984 it was the venue for the All Ireland Mixed Foursomes finals and the following year hosted the All Ireland Cups and Shields finals. It is a popular venue for various play-offs and finals for the Lenister area. It is also the venue for the very popular annual Smithwicks Senior Scratch Cup. Former winners of this prestigious championship include notable International Players, Padraig O'Rourke, Eddie Power and current leading Irish Professional Padraig Harrington.

Kilkenny Castle

Kilkenny Castle is a 12th century castle remodelled in Victorian times and set in extensive parklands which was the principal seat of the Butler family, Marquesses and Dukes of Ormonde. Kilkenny Castle was built to control a fording-point of the River Nore and the junction of several routeways and was a symbol of Norman occupation. In its original thirteenth-century condition it would have formed an important element of the defences of the town with four large circular corner towers and a massive ditch, part of which can still be seen today on the Parade.
Following major restoration works the central block now includes a library, drawing room, and bedrooms decorated in 1830's splendour, as well as the beautiful Long Gallery. A suite of former servant's rooms is the Butler Art Gallery, which mounts frequently changing exhibitions of contemporary art.
The gardens and parkland adjoining the castle are open to the public and the Parade Tower is the Castle's conference venue.
Rothe House & Garden

Built between 1594 and 1610, Rothe House & Garden is steeped in rich local and national history and is an important element of Kilkenny’s & indeed
Ireland's heritage as it is the only example of an early 17th century merchant’s townhouse in Ireland.
The House is open to the public as a Museum, displaying some of the 2,500 historic artefacts which all relate to Kilkenny heritage throughout the ages and some date from pre-historic times.
The Garden, open since 2008, is a reconstruction of an early 17th century urban garden.
