Tucked away in a valley high up in the Wicklow Hills, BrookLodge & Macreddin Village is a wonderful destination at any time, and it is especially relaxing and restorative at the moment.
Evan Doyle and his brothers, Eoin and Bernard, built this extraordinary food, drink and leisure complex on the site of a deserted village in a Wicklow valley in 1999. Today, it is a spacious and welcoming ‘green’ hotel offering everything from conferences and events to the sumptuous Wells Spa and wonderful food.
The hotel is famous for promoting organic and wild food - which is delicious, supports the local economy and gives good value too. Its main restaurant, The Strawberry Tree, was opened by Evan Doyle in Killarney in 1988; it was Ireland’s first certified organic restaurant and, when the Doyle brothers built BrookLodge, this pioneering dining concept moved to Wicklow where it has thrived and developed.
It remains at the forefront in promoting Irish Farmfoods, Wildfoods and Seafoods - and throughout its 30 year food journey, the names of the Farmers, the Producers and the Suppliers have been written on the first page of every Menu.
The warm BrookLodge welcome is very much alive and well - and it's the perfect Safe Staycation for those who appreciate good food. With plenty to do on site, including visiting The Food Village with Actons Country Pub and treatments at the Wells Spa (pre-booking essential) many guests see no reason to leave the premises - but that would be a pity as there is so much to do in the area, including golf, scenic walking on The Wicklow Way and visiting nearby attractions such as The Sally Gap, Glendalough, Powerscourt Estate and Avoca…
