Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.

Sugar & Spice

Linda Larkin's charming old world home bakery, café and 'foodhall' is a must-visit when in the area

Nestled at the foot of Mount Leinster, on the Wicklow Way, Linda Larkin's charming old world home bakery and café suits this delightful traditional village to a tee.

Whether you're walking, exploring the Ancient East, en route to or from the ferry in Rosslare, or just having a day out exploring the countryside in this beautiful area, it is a great place to take a break. There is plenty at Sugar and Spice to pack into a picnic basket, or to stop in the café and restore energy levels before setting off again.

Linda offers a great traditional breakfast, tasty daily lunch specials and the most fabulous array of freshly baked cakes - so you're pretty much guaranteed to find something to please your palate here.

There's a strong emphasis on supporting local produce and it is good to see the fantastic producers on their doorstep showcased, including the famed O'Neill Dry Cure Bacon, Gorse Farm, Carrigbyrne Cheese, Chocolate Garden, Newtown Farm Beef, Wexford Strawberries, Ballycross Apple Farm and Wexford Honey to name a few - many of them having earned awards for their produce.

And, with the ethically driven Java Republic supplying their coffees and teas, the same philosophy applies to drinks here as to their food.

A must-visit when in the area.
