Just across the road from the river and close to the fine old bridge that links Tipperary and Clare, this famous almost-riverside pub is an attractive place to visit.

There are fires in the cosy bars for chilly days and also plenty of tables and benches outside, where it can be pleasant to eat in fine weather.

Visitors will be pleased to find some traditional dishes among the wide choice offered in both the bar and restaurant - soups with freshly baked brown bread, oysters, mussels, Irish stew, beef & Guinness casserole, steaks, bacon and cabbage - and there are blackboard specials, which change every few days.

This popular spot can be very crowded at weekends, however, so midweek or off-season visits might be most enjoyable.
