Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality. The "Best of the Best" - Only the very best establishments across various categories have been chosen for this accolade

Broughgammon Farm & Café

A place to seek out - the Cole family are members of the Economusée ‘working museum’ network (‘Farm to Fork’ tour), and they encourage visitors to look around the farm as well as visiting their lovely café and shop - which also stocks other local products.
Farm, Café & Shop: Fri-Sun, 11am-4pm. Seasonal suppers, kids' club & other events. Economusée; farm tours; classes; meat boxes (online shop, Ireland & UK delivery). MasterCard, Visa. Also at (Saturdays): St Georges Market Belfast;Temple Bar Market, Dublin. abbreviations

‘Forward thinking farming’ is the motto at the Cole family’s fascinating farm just off the Causeway Coastal Route, and they’re renowned for their ethical and environmental policies.

The family - Charlie and Becky and Charlie’s parents, Millie and Robin - have earned a huge reputation for products rarely seen elsewhere, like cabrito kid goat meat (try the famous Billy Burger), rose veal and, more recently, wild game.

Including game may seem surprising, but it resulted from Charlie’s experience at nearby Baronscourt Estate and makes a lot of sense environmentally.

They’re members of the Economusée ‘working museum’ network (‘Farm to Fork’ tour), and also encourage visitors to come to their lovely café and shop (which also stocks other local products), and to look around the farm.

One to seek out.
