Located in a brightly painted period house at the top of this old market town, Byrnes is a stylishly laid back restaurant with views of Ennistymon's famous cascading river from the airy restaurant and an extensive outdoor dining area at the rear.
The Byrne family offer genuine hospitality and that, together with ambitious standards of food and great coffee, means that a visit here is sure to be enjoyable.
The surroundings - stylish, airy and yet cosy - are conducive to relaxation, and a warm welcome from a Byrne family member or one of the friendly staff gets guests off to a good start. Everything is freshly cooked to order with fairly short but well-balanced menus offering modern cooking with an emphasis on fresh local seafood and local meat, and there are always interesting vegetarian options.
On evening menus, seafood chowder makes an excellent starter with home baked bread; fish dishes are simple in style but very good to eat, and slow-cooked pork belly with five-spice honey and carrot and parsnip cream may be served with herb mash and red wine gravy.
Prices are reasonable for the high quality, with casual daytime food and an early bird dinner offering especially good value
A short but well chosen drinks list includes plenty of half bottles and wines by the glass, and a good range of craft beers.
