New Recommendation - recommended for the first time within the last 6 months 3 euro Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality. Outstanding Location, building or atmosphere

Dede Cellar and Pantry

The latest venture by Ahmet Dede and Maria Archer, Dede Cellar and Pantry offers walk-in bites and outstanding wines overlooking the harbour, plus delicious shopping (wine, cheese & charcuterie, dede goods) with off-season dinners by Ahmet Dede to come at weekends. What's not to love.
Open Thu-Sun: L Thu-Sat 12.30-3pm, D 5-9pm (bar stays open between L&D); Sun menu all day, 12.30-4pm. Small plates, matching wines. Excellent choice of curated small grower wines by the glass with daily changes, from about €7. €15 corkage on bottles from the shop. No reservations except Fri & Sat D in winter, set menu by Ahmet Dede; book online. Shop:wines, larder & dede goods, for collection (with delivery service planned). Wine services include wedding wines, bespoke industry lists etc. Closed Mon-Wed. Sister restaurants: dede & Baba'de, both in Baltimore. MC, Visa. abbreviations

And then there were three... Not content with their famously high flying fine dining destination, dede at The Custom House, and its more casual younger sister Baba'de, Ahmet Dede and Maria Archer went on to introduce the new baby in the family, Dede Cellar and Pantry, on the square in Baltimore in summer 2026. And it's great to see it. It may sound a bit mad having three restaurants within shouting distance of each other in a small West Cork village, but they're all very different.  And, for many who remember (and still miss) the original Dede with its tempting bakery-deli displays at the front, the scrumptious casual lunches enjoyed in the courtyard beyond - and fine dining dinners just a couple of nights week -  the new baby is just what they were waiting for.

Think morning coffee and freshly baked pastries, then light lunches of small plates (with carefully curated small producer wines to match).... Or call by in the evening for a most enjoyable casual dining experience. A gorgeous bottle from an ever-changing list - chosen for you, perhaps, by Niambh Lovett (of the former Cork destination, Lovett's of Douglas) who has hospitality in her genes. Favourites to look out for might include spicily succulent LobsterTail on toasted brioche with tomato salad and wakame crisps (about €35) and perhaps tasty Adana Kebab croquettes to share (c.€10) with lamb shoulder and neck as well as beef cheeks. Presentation is first class as always, but without fuss - and lovely service makes for a very relaxing evening. All round a great addition to the exceptional range of dining options already offered in this unique village,
