Rachels Garden Café

Although now very big, the ethos at this pleasant self-service restaurant in the impressive garden centre at the Arboretum is unchanged and, as always, it offers an attractive selection of wholesome, freshly-prepared food.

Children welcome (high chair, playground, gardens). Wine licence. Self-service. Closed 25 Dec & 1 Jan. Amex, Diners, MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

While it continues to grow - and is now very large - the ethos of this pleasant restaurant in the impressive garden centre at Frank and Rachel Doyle's Arboretum remains unchanged and, as always, it offers an attractive selection of wholesome, freshly-prepared food.

Tables are simply set up, but there is a sense of care about the place with fresh flowers everywhere - and, despite being mainly self-service, the friendly and helpful staff are happy to give assistance when needed.

Appetising salads and quick-serve dishes are on display at the service counter - everything is fresh and home-made with good ingredients, and there’s a nice flair in the desserts.

It's not really a wine place, but there's wine by the glass from the fridge, and a few quarter bottles, also fruit drinks (including apple juice) and minerals.

A good place to break a journey, as there's a nice ambience, plenty of space and helpful staff - and a browse around is always interesting and relaxing.
