Self catering visitors to the area will be particularly glad to find that Sligo is well supplied with quality food stores, including Catherine Farrell and Annette Burke's deservedly popular shop and deli, where the Ballymaloe trained chefs turn out some very tasty fare using carefully sourced, mainly local, ingredients.

As well as offering an extensive menu, including wholesome ready meals, soups, salads and sandwiches (and some seriously tempting cakes and desserts), they do catering and beautiful wedding cakes.

They make a hot lunch and soup daily for the Bridge Street shop, and also have a coffee shop at the N4 Roundabout Collooney (086 1732154). With plenty of seating and parking, it’s handy for a quick stop to pick up something to take away or to enjoy in the bright café.
