Warehouse No 1 Bistro and Café

Everything is top quality - and with well known chef Ivan Taylor (former owner of Browns) leading the kitchen team, that is a given. And Warehouse No 1 has another, more unusual, USP as the welcome extends to customers' four-legged friends.
Café: Mon-Wed 9am-5.30pm, Thu-Sat 9am-9.30pm, Sun 10am-5.30pm; Bistro Thu-Sat 6.30pm-9.30.pm. Children welcome. Wheelchair accessible. Wifi. Outside seating. Shop Mon-Sat 10am-5.30pm, Sun 11am-5pm. MasterCard, Visa. Dogs welcome on patio and some areas indoors. Shop; Art Gallery. MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

A relatively recent addition to the city’s excellent choice of casual dining venues, this quirky café and late week bistro is famed for its coffee, very tasty hearty artisan food and an interesting drinks menu, including craft beers. Everything is top quality - and with well known chef Ivan Taylor (former owner of Browns) leading the kitchen team, that is a given.

Warehouse No 1 is a great destination for anyone who enjoys really good, unfussy food - but it also has an unusual USP, as the welcome extends to customers' four-legged friends. The system is very well set up, with 'Dog House Rules’ posted and defined areas allocated, so that customers who prefer not to eat with dogs can do so in peace. Treats offered for dogs include ‘pawesome bites’ biscuits - and there's even a 'puppuccino', which is an espresso cup of whipped cream with a sprinkle of dog biscuits.

It's a great amenity for any dog owner visiting the city, or just out for a walk, and dog owners are generally very responsible about managing their pets in public so it is to be hoped that other establishments will follow suit.

And there are more treats in store upstairs at Warehouse No 1 too, where you’ll find an excellent art gallery (contemporary and traditional works) and a shop offering unusual home and gift ideas.

An interesting destination all round.
