Kinnegar Brewing Company

Kinnegar Brewing Company makes a small range of finely crafted, all-natural farmhouse beers. Named after the nearby Kinnegar Beach near Rathmullan, it currently produces on a nano rather than a micro scale, though that’s set to change.

In 2012, Kinnegar Brewing Ltd was granted planning permission to build a new 10-hectolitre brewery at its Rathmullan headquarters, which will increase capacity from the current 200 litres a week to 5,000 litres a week.

They currently make three beers – Limeburner, a pale ale; Scraggy Bay, a red ale; and Devil’s Backbone, an amber ale – and they’re also developing an American rye ale for An Grianán Theatre in Letterkenny.

For now, you can find Kinnegar beers at selected locations around Co. Donegal: Rathmullan House Hotel, the White Harte pub and the Ferry Gate restaurant in Rathmullan; the Mill Restaurant in Dunfanaghy; Logues Pub in Carrigart; the Red Door, the Beach House and Kealy’s on Inishowen; and locally at tasting events.

They also make sporadic appearances at the Black Sheep pub on Dublin’s Capel Street and in McHugh’s Off-Licences in Dublin’s Kilbarrack and on the Malahide Road. The brewery also tweets where the beer will be available in the next day or two, whether it’s locally in Co Donegal or further afield in Dublin.
