Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.

A Slice of Heaven

Renowned baker Mary McEvoy has a national following for her gorgeous looking creations, which are astonishingly detailed - and, more importantly, she pays equal attention to the ingredients, which are all natural and local if at all possible.

And, not content with making these fantastic special occasion cakes and cupcakes as gorgeous as they can be, both to look at and to eat, Mary makes sure that they are exquisitely presented in decorative boxes too, so they are perfect for gifts.

Since moving from Piltown into her shop in Kilkenny city, Mary's irresistible treats are much more accessible and, together with her husband the well known chef Neil McEvoy, she also offers baking and general cookery classes including 'Little Chefs' (5-8) and 'Junior Chefs' (8+) courses for kids.

Visit her website to see samples of her beautiful creations, and for the current course schedule.
