Academy Restaurant

It is not widely known beyond the immediate area that the Portrush's School of Hotel, Leisure & Tourism at the University of Ulster (previously the the renowned NI Hotel & Catering College) is also open to the public as a normal commercially-operated restaurant. Lunch in the Academy offers a brasserie style menu with quick, professional service, while dinner offers fine dining and a more formal style of service including plated dishes, silver service and guéridon preparation and flambé work. The kitchen and restaurant are staffed by students following higher education programmes in hospitality and the culinary arts under the guidance of professional restaurant manager, Martin Caldwell, and head chef, Martin Devaney. Menus and wine lists are bang up to date, the food is excellent and beautifully presented and service is friendly, attentive and efficient. The quality and value offered here can be outstanding. They also do theme evenings, wedding receptions/banqueting and conferences.




Seats 80 (private room available on request). L Mon-Fri 12.30-1 (also Sun in Jun-Jul); D Wed-Sat, 7-8. Set L about £12.50, Set Sun L about £15. Set D about £17.95; á la carte L&D also available. House wine about £15. Closed Sun (except Jun-Jul), Easter, Christmas.
