Boozeberries

Based on natural products, the brilliantly named Boozeberries fruit liqueur originated in Co Carlow and is now made at Dromore, Co Down.

Very much like the familiar sloe gin that’s been made from hedgerow fruits for generations, this artisan berry liqueur is infused with Irish grain spirit in small batches and three flavours (blackcurrant, blueberry and wild cranberry).

They’re very versatile, being equally appealing on their own over ice or in cocktails - try a boozeberry version of kir or kir royale, for example, using white wine or bubbly - and they make great ingredients for special desserts, or to lift a simple one such as fruit salad.

Stylishly bottled and packed this attractively simple idea has been predictably well received - and it may even be healthy. A great gift idea.

Available from: Superquinn, Tesco, O’Briens and other selected outlets. abbreviations
