The Brehon
Appropriately enough, as it is so close to the Irish National Entertainment Centre (INEC), everything at this 5* hotel, conference centre and spa is on a grand scale - and, while the exterior of the vast five-storey building may be overpowering, most would agree that the contemporary interior matches the official description of ‘tasteful splendour’.
Everything seems larger than life and - although it tends to show signs of the heavy wear it is subjected to - the design, decor and furnishings of the public spaces are striking, and feature some interesting modern art and sculpture.
This house style continues through bedrooms and suites, which are extremely comfortable, with air-conditioning as well as more usual features, and luxurious marble bathrooms with separate shower and bath.
The restaurant is airy and bright, and a wide ranging breakfast menu is offered.
The hotel takes pride in its spa: developed by the Banyan Tree Spa, it is Europe’s first Angsana spa and based on holistic Asian healing customs.
Conference facilities include four meeting rooms and a large function space, which is also available for weddings.
