This large, informal contemporary café-restaurant near the harbour is a sister of Café Mao Dublin 2 and Cafe Mao Dundrum Shopping Centre (see entries).
This Dublin restaurants run on the same lines, with the philosophy of providing simple, quick and healthy food, with youthful appeal, at a reasonable price - and there's always a good buzz. Dishes with nuts are highlighted on the menu, also chilli strength, low fat and vegetarian dishes.
House specialties include Goreng, Malaysian chicken and five spiced chicken; daily specials are particularly good value, and there's a daily cake selection - e.g. cappuccino with walnut gateau, toffee & apple gateau, pecan pie & Mississippi mud pie - and an interesting drinks menu.
It's a good place for brunch, with tables outside for fine weather.
