You can’t miss the orange frontage bright blue canopy of this unassuming Italian restaurant in the centre of Dunleer village, and it is very popular, so it is wise to book well ahead, especially at weekends.

Although quite unremarkable from the street, it is a welcoming place, with a comfortable seating area just inside the door where groups can assemble over a drink before heading for their table.

Tables are simply set (night light, cutlery and a paper napkin), but friendly and efficient local staff will make sure that you’re quickly settled into a menu that is well planned to please everyone.

Expect home-baked bread, good minestrone soup, mixed leaf salads with creamy home-made dressing, crisp thin-based pizzas, and a range of pasta dishes and daily specials - such as herb-crusted cod, perfectly cooked and served with local vegetables (choice of boiled or chipped potatoes). Finish with a real tiramisu perhaps.
