The Carriage House
Maureen Griffith, a former owner of The Buck’s Head Inn, offers well-hidden bed and breakfast accommodation in her unusual house, which is next door to the inn.
Her home has great style, and is furnished mainly with antiques but she has an eye for unusual items and you will find modern pieces amongst them, and also quirky decorative little bits and pieces among the lovely paintings and prints - and some not so little too, as a full size horse sculpture at the back of the house is the item that guests find most fascinating.
The three guest rooms include one away from the road at the back of the house, and all are quietly luxurious with beautiful bedding and delightful details.
No dinner is offered (and it’s only a few steps to the best in the area) but a lovely breakfast is served in a sun room overlooking a walled garden, prettily planted with wild flowers and herbs.
Rooms 3 (all en-suite and no smoking); B&B £35 pps, ss £10. Broadband wi/fi. Fishing, equestrian, garden visits, walking and golf nearby (Royal County Down Golf Club). No Credit Cards.
