Tucked behind a traditional red and cream painted shopfront on Parliament Street, Pierre Schneider’s cosy little Kilkenny restaurants long been popular with local people for serving honest, well sourced and simply cooked bistro fare during the day.
But it is when he opens for dinner that the talent in this kitchen really shows through - evening menus offer a good choice, including some excellent fish dishes and other equally tempting choices, possibly including a velvety duck liver mousse, served with chutney and salad – and, perhaps, a main course of Toulouse sausage.
Expect simple, flavoursome vegetables to accompany, and you may finish with French cheeses, in perfect condition.
Willing service by staff smartly dressed in black, and a short wine list complete the picture.
