Cilantro

Brady's Inn - a large but pleasant pub - is a local landmark in Castleknock, and above it you will find this very agreeable owner-run Indian restaurant.

Modern and clean lined, with black leather fireside seating in the reception area, and generous white-clothed tables set up with crisp linen napkins, generous fine wine glasses and fresh flowers, it creates a good first impression - enhanced by a warm welcome from friendly Indian staff.

A balanced wine list (including some Indian beers) and menus are promptly presented, and aperitifs follow swiftly. Poppodums and an array of chutneys make tasty nibbles to begin with, while looking through menus that offer a wide range of dishes, including many of the traditional favourites, but also less known dishes.

Tandoori specialities feature on the main course choices, and a mixed tandoori dish brings together pieces of lamb, chicken and beef, cooked over charcoal in the tandoor. Various creamier dishes are offered too, plus tempting naan breads and an unusual range of side vegetables.

To finish, try a refreshing lassi (a traditional, slightly salty, mixture of yoghurt and water).

Tasty food, friendly staff and giood value make this an ideal neighbourhood restaurant - and Cilantro has earned a loyal following.
