Clarion Hotel Limerick

This dramatic cigar-shaped 17-storey hotel right on the River Shannon waterfront in the centre of Limerick enjoys panoramic views over the city and the Shannon region. Clean-lined contemporary elegance is the theme throughout and a semi-open plan arrangement of foyer, bars and dining spaces, takes full advantage of the location.

Business facilities are excellent and bedrooms - which vary more than usual in hotels due to the unusual shape of the building - are offered in several pleasingly simple, modern colour schemes.

All rooms have striking maple furniture, air conditioning, and everything that makes an hotel room the perfect retreat although, oddly, the lower level of windows is too high to allow you to savour the view while sitting down; the top two floors offer suites and penthouses for long lets. Residents have unlimited use of leisure facilities, and several decked balconies and terraces at different levels encourage guests to enjoy fine weather.

Apart from the Malaysian/Thai all-day menu offered in the hotel's Kudos Bar, all meals are served in the well-appointed Sinergie Restaurant, a very attractive contemporary room with river views.

Menus are lively and generally well-executed; at its best, a meal here can be a most enjoyable experience.

Although this landmark building is easily located, gaining access to the hotel can be tricky for those unfamiliar with the city's one-way system; a nearby car park is used by the hotel and it is advisable to get clear instructions before arrival. (There is a moderate charge for parking.)
