The Crescent Townhouse
This is an elegant building on the corner of Botanic Avenue, just a short stroll from the city centre. The ground floor is taken up by the Metro Brasserie and Bar/Twelve, a stylish club-like bar with oak panelling and snugs, which particularly lively and popular at night (necessitating 'greeters' for the entrance), so noise could be a problem in front bedrooms.
The reception lounge is on the first floor. Spacious bedrooms - which include several superior grades, and six rooms fairly recently added - have phones with data points, TV and trouser press, and are comfortably furnished, with good tiled bathrooms. Suites and superior rooms are more elaborate and have luxurious bathrooms with roll-top baths and separate showers, but all rooms are regularly refurbished.
A good choice for business visitors: fax, photocopying and secretarial services can be provided through reception. Breakfast is taken in the contemporary split-level Metro Brasserie, which is open for all meals: more than just a hotel dining room, this restaurant has a following for its good contemporary cooking.
The early dinner menu is especially good value.
