Da Roberta

Roberta and Sandro Pieri popular restaurant in Salthill is almost next to the sister restaurant Osteria da Roberta (see below), across from the Bank of Ireland. Their own ‘piece of Italy’ is still as popular as ever - and queues regularly form at the door.

Walls are hung with still life prints and posters of “Touring Club Italiano”, tables sport linen cloths with paper covers, it’s child-friendly and buzzes with the chatter of happy diners. Roberta smiles as she takes orders, Sandro moves from table to table with bottles of wine exchanging wry banter with customers as he pours wine, stuffing corks in his pocket.

This Galway Restaurants menu offers many familiar Italian dishes such as prosciutto and salad leaves with soft cheese and pizzas with thin, crisp bases and a good choice of toppings.

Bought-in desserts come with good coffee, and an appropriately all-Italian wine list also offers Italian beer. So what you get here is charming hospitality, an authentic Italian atmosphere and good value - a great recipe for success.

*Nearby, Osteria da Roberta, (157/159 Upper Salthill) is run by the same family, and serves full meals - no pizza, so it is has less appeal for children and more for adults. (Open Mon-Sat 5-11, Sun 12.30-11).

Da Roberta : Seats 90 (outdoors, 18); reservations recommended. Open daily 12-11.30. A la carte. House wine about €18.50. Amex, MasterCard, Visa, Laser.
