This quiet and centrally located wine bar and restaurant has a whitewashed ground floor interior which is cool and spacious, as well as a cellar bar and a small outdoor terrace which makes the most of sunny afternoons.
The wine list is relatively short for a wine bar but has some excellent choices at all price levels.
The food menu is also quite short and simple and the style is hearty, with large portions of straightforward food, excellently prepared. Typically, from a choice of about ten dishes on each course, you might begin with tasty starters of crab or chicken salad, followed by simple main courses including steaks, burger and vegetarian/pasta dishes.
And then old favourites - crumbles, cheese cakes and ice cream - to finish. There is some excellent seafood available, and all dishes are very reasonably priced with an early evening 20% discount on the total bill (including wine) which is available before 7pm on Thursday to Saturday evenings, offering excellent value.
The service in this Dublin restaurants relaxed but all staff know the wine list well.
There is live music in the cellar bar every night from Thursday to Saturday.
