The Grand Hotel

Set high above the town, this big old hotel is not perhaps quite as grand as it once was, but it has enviable views of Tramore Bay and will be enjoyed by guests who like quirky older properties and appreciate traditional hospitality.

Friendliness and old-fashioned comfort are the order of the day here and it’s popular with families, as it’s just a few minutes walk from all the amenities that this holiday town has to offer and has good facilities for children.

Bedrooms are good sized and a number of family suites are available, with a double and up to three single beds, and complimentary baby-listening service. There is also a kids’ club during the summer months, open to residents and non-residents.

Discounts on many of Tramore’s water attractions are available to residents, who also get favourable rates for other local activities including golf and horseriding.

Breakfast is served in a pleasant dining room, where window tables are much in demand. Head Chef Fergus Galvin sources his ingredients with care and children are well catered for in Duffy’s Bar (food served 12.30 – 10pm), with bangers and mash and Southern fried chicken just two of the choices available.

Conferences/banqueting (20-250). Rooms 80 (all en-suite, 10 family; some also wheelchair friendly). Lift. Room rate from about €70 (single €50). Free on street parking. abbreviations

2 euro A selection of establishments outside the standard categories that should enhance the discerning travellers experience of Ireland Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.
