The Grass Roots Café

This self-service café is a pleasant place for an informal meal, whether or not you are visiting the museum - it has good parking facilities and the spacious room, which is attractively located overlooking a garden area, has a pleasingly cool modern ambience.

An appetising small menu offers home-made soup, salads and quiches, tarts and cakes plus several hot dishes - tortellini with pesto cream, perhaps, or tasty pork tacos, generously served - and about half the daily selection is vegetarian.

Food quality and presentation is good (large white plates), cafeteria style service is efficient - and it's a handier choice for a quick lunch than city centre venues, perhaps.

Wine choices are restricted to a few quarter bottles.
