Jaipur Restaurant

This latest branch of the highly regarded Jaipur chain of Indian restaurants is a real asset to Ongar Village - conveniently located in the centre of the new village, it’s well worth seeking out as it has set the culinary benchmark for the area.

It looks a little out of place in a sparse office building, but this is quickly forgotten once inside as – like its sister restaurants - the interior is stylish and cosy, with an open dining area decorated sparingly with modern images of India, and atmospheric instrumental music playing quietly.

Friendly staff provide a prompt welcome and offer enticing menus of traditional Indian fare alongside dishes with a more unusual twist. Unusually for an Indian restaurant, desserts are a delight, especially the house variations on kulfi (Indian ice cream).

The attention to detail which this chain is renowned for is evident in a wine list that is carefully matched to Indian food – and the King Cobra Indian lager is an interesting option for the indecisive. And most attentive service is another highlight of this busy, delightful spot.
