K C Blakes

K C Blakes is named after a stone Tower House of a type built sometime between 1440 and 1640, which stands as an example of the medieval stone architecture of the ancient city of Galway and the Caseys’ restaurant, with all its sleek black designer style and contemporary chic, could not present a stronger contrast to such a building.

Proprietor-chef John Casey sources ingredients for K C Blakes with care and wide-ranging menus cooked with skill offer something for every taste: traditional Irish (beef and Guinness stew), modern Irish (pan-fried scallops and black pudding), classical French (sole meunière) to global cuisine (a huge choice here - oriental duck with warm pancakes stuffed with cucumber and spring onion, perhaps).

Professional service, creative cooking and smart surroundings make for quite a sense of occasion - yet this remarkably consistent operation is aimed at a wide market and fairly priced.

The upstairs dining room is a more cheerful choice - unless you prefer a people-watching window table downstairs.
