Londonderry Arms Hotel

The Londonderry Arms Hotel, built by the Marchioness of Londonderry in 1848 as a coaching inn, was inherited by her great grandson, Sir Winston Churchill, in 1921 and retains great character to this day.

Since 1948 it has been in the caring hands of the O’Neill family, and they do good home-made bar meals, or afternoon tea, which you can have in the bar or beside the fire in an old fashioned lounge; as well as dinner, High Tea is still served in the restaurant on Sunday afternoons.

Bedrooms are comfortable and well-furnished; many of the older rooms have sea views and it is worthwhile discussing the type and location of your room when booking, as some have been refurbished recently and one or two are badly positioned for a restful night’s sleep.

This is a delightful place in a lovely old-fashioned village, and a refreshing contrast to today’s streamlined new hotels.
