Páraic & Gobnait O'Fátharta’s hotel is the only one on the central (and middle sized) island of the Aran Islands group. As the least visited of the three islands, Inis Meáin offers an authentic experience of island life and, with its comfortable accommodation and modern conveniences, the hotel makes a good base for exploring the island and experiencing the local culture.
The O'Fátharta's traditional Irish hospitality is very relaxing for visitors, and the ten en-suite bedrooms all have magnificent views.
The hotel bar and restaurant is a focus for many of the activities on the island, offering not just food and drink but also music and the craic that goes with it.
First time visitors may be surprised by the many places of interest there are to visit on the island. These include not only some of the pre-Christian and mythological sites which are special to the islands, but also more modern attractions such as Teach Synge, the house where the playwright John Millington Synge stayed, which is open to the public; a church with windows by Ireland’s most famous stained glass, Harry Clark; and the Inis Meáin Knitwear Factory which has an international reputation for quality and design.
