This very popular hotel in Portlaoise is an older sister to the Heritage at Killenard (see entry) and it offers particularly good facilities for conferences and business travellers.
Although situated right in the town centre, the hotel’s proud claim is that guests never have to leave the premises during their stay, and public areas certainly offer a lot of choices to suit both off duty business/conference guests and leisure guests; there are three dining options, for example - Spago Italian Bistro for informal meals, fine dining at The Fitzmaurice and casual eating at Kellys Foundry Grillhouse, which is a fun place where the speciality is dry aged Irish Hereford beef, cooked on ‘Black Rock’ (volcanic stone).
Accommodation, in several grades of room, is very comfortable and offers all the facilities expected of a good hotel.
A dedicated conference wing offers excellent facilities for everything from small meetings to large conferences and events, and there is a fine health & fitness club with 22m pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room and gym; personal trainer available; beauty therapies.
