Richy's Bar & Bistro

Situated in the centre of Clonakilty, close to a little park, Richy Virahsawmy’s bar and bistro is one of those relaxed places where today’s specials are chalked up on a blackboard and it attracts a real cross-section of people.

It’s spacious and appealingly furnished with smart window blinds and wooden floors giving a clean, modern feeling, softened by warm yellow walls and paintings well lit in little recessed alcoves. Well-spaced tables, banquettes along one wall and a bar in one of the two eating areas create a comfortable setting for food that ranges widely around the Mediterranean, with a leaning towards Spain - and locally sourced ingredients may include less usual food like samphire, as well as local lamb and fish.

A thoughtfully selected, clear and reasonably priced wine list is organised by style and includes an interesting house selection (9, all available by the glass, and other drinks are available from the bar, which is handy for families with young children).

A great place to know about, especially when on a family holiday.
