Rockett's of The Metal Man
Open fires and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere will always draw you into this unusual pub but it’s the speciality of the house, Crubeens (pig’s trotters) which has earned it fame throughout the land.
Crubeens (cruibíns) were once the staple bar food in pubs everywhere in Ireland but, as they’ve been supplanted by crisps, peanuts and lasagne & chips, Rockett’s is one of the few places to keep up the old tradition.
Two bars are set up with tables for the comfortable consumption of these porcine treats, served with cabbage and colcannon.
Other traditional foods like boiled bacon & cabbage, spare ribs, colcannon and apple pie are also very much on the menu at Rockett’s - and all prepared freshly.
Seats 150 (outdoors, 20); children welcome (high chair, childrens menu, baby changing facilities); toilets wheelchair accessible; air conditioning. Food served daily 12.30-9pm (Sun to 8pm). A phone call is advised to check times off-season. Closed 25 Dec & Good Fri. MasterCard, Visa, Laser.
Directions:
From Waterford, straight through Tramore, 1.5km (one mile) far side.
