Slipway - West Cork
Quietly located away from the bustle around the square, but within easy walking distance of several excellent restaurants, Wilmie Owen’s unusual house has uninterrupted views of the harbour and distant seascape from all the bedrooms, and also the first floor breakfast room, which has a balcony (a delightful room but, unfortunately, not available to guests, except at breakfast time).
There's a lovely garden and a self-catering cottage is also available for weekly rental (sleeps 2); details on application.
Self Catering
The self catering cottage is attached to the left wing of the guesthouse. It has outstanding views from the living room and bedroom over Baltimore harbour and to the hills beyond. It is within 10 minute walking distance to the village centre.
Ferries leave from the pier to nearby Cape Clear and Sherkin Island. The wonderful scenery of the Mizen head and Beara Peninsula are within easy touring distance, and locally there are many little coves and sandy beaches to explore along the rugged coastline. Definitely a good base to tour West Cork and Kerry.
Rooms 4 (all shower only & no-smoking, 1 family room, 2 ground floor); not suitable for children under 12; no pets, garden; B&B €40 pps, ss €16/€25 low/high season. Closed Nov-Mar officially, but phone to check, open over New Years. No Credit Cards.
Directions:
Through Baltimore village, to the Cove, 500 metres.
