Quietly located away from the bustle around the square, but within 10 minutes walk of several excellent restaurants, Wilmie Owen’s unusual house has uninterrupted views of the harbour and distant seascape from all the bedrooms, and also the first floor breakfast room, which has a balcony (a delightful room although, unfortunately, not available to guests, except at breakfast time).
There's a lovely garden and a self-catering cottage is also available for weekly rental (sleeps 2). Attached to the left wing of the guesthouse, it has outstanding views from the living room and bedroom over Baltimore harbour and to the hills beyond.
Ferries leave from the pier to nearby Cape Clear and Sherkin Island. The wonderful scenery of the Mizen head and Beara Peninsula are within easy touring distance, and locally there are many little coves and sandy beaches to explore along the rugged coastline. A good base to tour West Cork and Kerry.
