Right on the beach in Dunmore East, and with sea views out towards the Hook Lighthouse, The Strand goes back a good few hundred years but today it is the first choice for discerning locals when it comes to seafood.
'Fish, fish, fish' is how they describe their menu, and so it is - up to a point: non seafood eaters will be glad to know that there are some concessions, including a roast perhaps, or poultry such as traditional duck with orange sauce.
But it is mainly for the seafood that people head for the Strand - and it couldn't be fresher as much of it comes from the nearby harbour, which is one of Ireland's main fishing ports.
