The Suir Inn
This immaculately maintained black-and-white painted inn is 300 years old and has been run by the McAlpin family since 1972. It’s a characterful, country style place with rustic furniture, cottagey plates and old prints decorating the walls - more like a traditional bar than a restaurant.
Seasonal menus offer a choice of about six starters (mostly seafood) and ten main courses, including several cold dishes and two vegetarian ones, again all moderately priced - specialities include a generous and reasonably priced seafood platter and home-made seafood pie.
All meals come with brown soda bread and butter, and a side salad - and a nice little wine list includes a choice of eight moderately priced wines.
Seats 62; no children after 9pm. D Mon-Sat, 5.30-9.30; á la carte; sc discretionary. House wine from about €15. SC discretionary. Closed Sun. MasterCard, Visa, Laser
