Ta Tu
This fashionable bar and grill found an immediate niche when it opened in 2000, and is always packed at weekends. The design incorporates an ultra-modern high-roofed 'warehouse' with a long bar where the bright young things meet and greet and, at the rear, a more intimate restaurant area; at the time of the Guide's 2007 visit a major refurbishment was imminent, to include an extension of the dining area; a new head chef, Martin Wilson, has taken over since out visit, but regardless of who is in the kitchen, they have always done a good job here and it is certain to remain one of Belfast's most popular informal dining spots.
Various menus are offered, with dishes changing monthly, and the food is youthful and well presented; there's an all-day menu, also a reasonably priced evening Bistro Menu, with an option of 1/2 carafe house wine and a recent introduction is the Sunday Lunch deal offering a choice of roasts at £7.95 with a complimentary Movie Lounge to keep the kids busy.
And traditionalists who think of this as a trendy place that they may not like could be in for a surprise, as well trained staff who know the menus are extremely friendly and make it a place for all ages; the wine list offers carefully chosen wines at very fair prices and there's plenty to choose from by the glass.
